Corona Pandemic : This too shall pass

I was witnessing my physical breakdown, being isolated from my normal schedule before the whisper of some unknown virus epidemic in China burst out. For me, days were fluctuating on eat, sleep and repeat between the balance of hope and fear. These were my new normal.

Then approached the biggest ongoing crisis of its kind disturbing the normalcies of human life in the form of a virus, an unwanted import without any tax or duties. It has travelled to our country on the passports of the rich and is subsequently affecting the ration card of the poor.

As of now, this unique import appears to be the most durable Chinese ‘maal’ (product), we would never sought  to get. A threat which does not appear to discriminate the gaps that divides us.

The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has described it as the worst global crisis since World War II. After alarming levels of inaction, the World Health Organisation had described the corona virus as pandemic. The distribution of COVID -19 cases as of March 20,2020 (Figure 1).

As a preventive measure, janta curfew was imposed to combat the coronavirus pandemic by our honourable Prime Minister followed by a ongoing complete lockdown for 21 days. The exodus of thousands of scared and starving migrant workers from India’s major cities is triggered. The chaos and overcrowding have raised concerns about further spread of the virus(Figure 2). Addressing the migrant workers exodus, the central government ordered states to seal their borders and to put 14 days mandatory quarantine to all those trying to return to their villages.

Few people are questioning this sudden lockdown with a window of just four hours, but it is important to understand that such decisions don’t have the luxury of weeks or months of planning.

In this environment of fear and uncertainties, it is very difficult to get diverted from the thoughts of this virus as every part and source of information is filled with the news of corona. But we need to sanitize our mind by engaging ourselves with household activities.

We don’t need to panic facing this pandemic as we are not the only one to face it. We need to Have Only  Positive Expectation (HOPE) to fight this condition out. FEAR should not be an option but should be an opportunity to Face Everything and Rise as one fine day, this will be over and we will be grateful for life in ways we have never felt before.

As quoted by John Greenleaf Whittier,

No longer forward nor behind, i look in hope or fear,
But grateful, take the good I find
The best of now and here.
